    Lora-Marie Bernard is a Texas nonfiction author and public affairs reporter whose investigative series into air violations led to increased monitoring along the Houston/Galveston Ship Channels. She’s worked for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Houston Chronicle and several other Texas news outlets. Her nonfiction books feature the people, history, and resources along the Texas coast. Early in her journalism career she was the recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy award for social reporting. Later, she earned several top honors for investigative and public affairs journalism from the National Newspaper Association, the Associated Press Managing Editors Association and the Dallas Press Club. She has a bachelor’s degree from the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. She studied nonprofit business at Duke and Harvard Kennedy School. In May, she will graduate from Harvard University with a master’s degree in liberal arts with studies in journalism and museum studies. She is a media/outreach consultant in Houston, Texas.
