(Talk Media News) — Republican presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday said that he and frontrunner Donald Trump differ on their opinions on illegal immigration.
Cruz made the remarks during an appearance in Iowa, according to a video obtained by Buzzfeed.
When asked if he supported the mass deportation of all undocumented immigrants, Cruz responded “absolutely yes,” but added that there was a difference between he and Trump on the issue.
“He’s advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens,” Cruz said of Trump. “I oppose that.”
Cruz, however, admitted that other than that, the two largely agreed on the issue.
In the weeks leading up to the Iowa caucuses, Cruz has been steadily rising in the polls among Republicans and leads Trump by a slim margin in some polls.
