Washington – Debra Katz, the attorney for the woman accusing Supreme Court Nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of attempted rape, Christine Blasey Ford, is reportedly negotiating for Ford to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Thursday.
Katz is reportedly requesting that Ford not be in the same room with Kavanaugh when she testifies. Nor do they want outside counsel for GOP senators to question Ford in lieu of GOP senators questioning her directly.
Katz writes the committee that Ford “wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety.”
Katz reminds the committee, “As you are aware, she has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home. She wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and ensure her safety.”
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley has not publicly agreed to Katz’ entreaties. On Wednesday, Grassley said the hearing to hear Ford’s and Kavanaugh’s testimony will take place on Monday — with or without Ford.
