ON THE HILL WITH DOUG CHRISTIAN
CAPITOL HILL – A partial government shutdown looms Saturday if Congress and the President can’t reach a budget deal. President Donald Trump has declared that he would own a shutdown if $5 billion isn’t earmarked for his border wall in FY2019.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is looking for cooperation this holiday season:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer puts the onus for cooperation on the President and Majority Leader:
(Audio: Schumer says Democrats are putting forth two options that can pass Congress if the President will accept one. He noted that the Trump administration hadn’t spent the money earmarked for the wall last year.)
The last word on these negotiations come from the President who tweeted Monday:
Anytime you hear a Democrat saying that you can have good Border Security without a Wall, write them off as just another politician following the party line. Time for us to save billions of dollars a year and have, at the same time, far greater safety and control!
