WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), provided an immediate rebuttal to President Donald Trump’s Oval Office address calling for a border wall, saying that the president is “stoking fear.” Standing side by side in front of six American flags, Speaker Pelosi said:

(Audio: Speaker Pelosi says that women and children are not a threat.)

Minority Leader Schumer says:

(Audio: Schumer fear not facts.)

Looking forward, a growing number of Senate Republicans, including Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) are expressing skepticism toward the idea of President Trump using extraordinary emergency executive powers to fund his border wall.

Today, the president meets with Senate Republicans during their weekly luncheon.
