CAPITOL HILL – That was President Donald Trump complaining on Friday that the four freshmen congresswomen, known as The Squad, can’t complain about this country. Trump’s complaint about them comes after crowds at his rally in Greenville, NC chanted ‘send her home’ about Squad member, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). Those chants, widely seen as racist and xenophobic, were walked back by Trump.
Now Trump is doubling down on his attacks. Sunday, he tweeted:
I don’t believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said. They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!

Another member of The Squad, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), said her criticism is of Trump’s policies, not the country. She tweeted in reply:
We fight to guarantee:
– public college & student loan forgiveness
– enviro protections
– living wages
– basic human rights
We don’t take a dime of corporate money, either.
– Jack up drug prices
– Appoint Betsy DeVos to scam student loans
– Hurt immigrant kids https://t.co/bUsXt1h8uT

In other news, Trump responded to Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) weekend trip to the southern border. Trump tweeted:
….Based on the comments made by Senator Schumer, he must have seen how dangerous & bad for our Country the Border is. It is not a “manufactured crisis,” as the Fake News Media & their Democrat partners tried to portray. He said he wants to meet. I will set up a meeting ASAP!

Looking forward, Democrats are actively preparing for former special counsel Robert Mueller III’s testimony before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees, scheduled for Wednesday.
