Trump welcomes Qatar’s leader amid Arab blockade

THE WHITE HOUSE – President Donald Trump welcomed Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the White House.

This meeting, designed to shore up regional stability, comes as tensions between Iran and the U.S. reach new heights and amid an ongoing Arab blockade against Qatar.

With that backdrop, Trump mentioned trade:

In addition to weapons purchases, Qatar hosts the largest U.S. military base in the region, housing 11,800 U.S. servicemen: the Al Udeid airbase.
