WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump appears unfazed by Democrats’ House wins, taking to Twitter the morning after his party lost the lower chamber to tout a “Big Victory.”

While Democrats will enter the next session with control of the House, including the power of oversight that comes with it, Tuesday was uneven for the party.

Republicans are poised to build on the majority in the Senate, and a number of high profile gubernatorial and upper chamber races that Trump involved himself in swung to the right.

Trump pointed to Republicans who won after embracing his presidency, but left out over a dozen who lost, including Senate candidate Patrick Morrisey in West Virginia and House candidates like Danny Tarkanian in Nevada, David Brat in Virginia and Katie Arrington in South Carolina.

Keeping in traditional Trump fashion, the president also appeared to troll House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), claiming that Republicans may support her Speaker bid in the face of opposition from a handful of Democrats.

In the past, Trump has cheekily played up Pelosi’s boogeyman-like reputation among conservatives to suggest that Pelosi should remain in the leadership indefinitely.

Compounding the sense that Trump will remain unchanged by Tuesday’s results, the president also took a potshot at the media, claiming that media coverage failing to depict last night’s results as favorable to him are examples of “FAKE NEWS.”

Trump is scheduled to appear in the White House East Wing late Wednesday morning for his first public appearance since Monday.
