More than half disapprove of Trump’s job performance, poll finds

WASHINGTON – More than half of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s job performance, according to a poll released Monday.

The YouGov survey found that 54 percent of the respondents said they do not think Trump is doing a good job and 41 percent said they do think he is doing a good job. Meanwhile, 5 percent said they are not sure if the president is doing a good job.

Fifty-four percent said they think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Included in that group are 77 percent of Democrats, 23 percent of Republicans and 54 percent of independent voters.

Thirty-four percent said they do think the country is headed in the right direction. Included in that group are 71 percent of Republicans, 11 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of independent voters.

Twelve percent said they are not sure if the country is headed in the right direction. Included in that group are 11 percent of Democrats, 6 percent of Republicans and 16 percent of independent voters.

The sampling included 1,000 respondents and was carried out Dec. 8-9. Eight-hundred and-fifty-five of the respondents are registered voters. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
