THE WHITE HOUSE — (Audio: Trump says that lawyers will have to look at the request for his taxes)

President Donald Trump responds to the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Richard Neal’s (D-Mass.) declaration that he is demanding six years of the president’s tax returns from the Internal Revenue Code under section 6103(f) giving the committee authority to get the returns.

Prior to this demand, President Trump used this excuse to withhold his taxes:

In response, Neal says, “The professional staff and the attorneys say that you can still submit your tax forms even if you’re under audit.”

Negotiations continue today to head off a trade war between the United States and China as China’s Vice Premier, Liu He, and China’s ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, meet with President Trump.

Looking forward, Trump leaves for California this morning to see the US-Mexico border and to hold a fundraiser this evening.
